NYTimes: A Company Copes With Backlash Against the Raise That Roared

Dan Price, chief of Gravity Payments, raised the annual salary floor for his employees to $70,000. Most responses were positive, but Mr. Price says that even the negative letters were valuable.

When I found out I’d have just over an hour and a half for this shoot, I knew I wanted to bring Tim Matsui in on it to help pull it off. Tim, in his usual excitement, even threw in an additional slider angle and roamed handheld with a fourth camera. Still only half the cameras he organized on his L.E.A.D. shoot in July.

I thought it was interesting that complete strangers from around the country felt so strongly about Dan’s decision to raise minimum wage at his company, that they wrote him scathing letters about what they think will be his inevitable failure. Time will tell…
